Abstract Based on the description of green plums in Compendium of Material Medica, a real problem situation was created: why green plums were sour and how green plum wine could reduce acid. Thus, students were guided to analyze the acidity of carboxyl group and the nature of esterification reaction, and further discussed how to use esterification reaction to synthesize esters that people needed. It highlighted the occurrence, development process and practical application value of knowledge, so that students could understand the important contribution of chemistry in solving real problems, promoting social development and improving the quality of human life.
