Abstract After completing the study of basic professional knowledge and experimental skills training, senior undergraduates majoring in applied chemistry are eager to understand the latest trends in cutting-edge technologies and enhance the practical application ability of their knowledge and skills to clarify their personal development directions. To meet this demand, the Department of Chemistry at Tianjin University offers an innovative experimental course for senior undergraduates. The course adopts a cultivation mode of“interest-oriented,group-based,category-divided,and stage-by-stage”,deeply integrating project-based teaching with experiential learning, which effectively improves students’ innovative awareness and practical abilities. It has made an instructive attempt in training chemistry talents and can serve as a reference for experimental teaching in other institutions.
