Abstract  Employing p-V graphic method has been considered as a common practice to expound that the work is process function in teaching of physical chemistry. This paper proved that the work is a process function transmitting the energy between system and environment by using the mathematical derivation. This work is provided with crucial significance to further master the concepts of process function and state function, as well as the relationship between process function and state function.
