Abstract  The concept and characteristics of participatory teaching were presented in this study. And the participatory teaching plan of organic chemistry experiment for students majoring in pharmacy was carried out carefully. The experiment "preparation of acetylsalicylic acid" was used as an example to discuss the specific steps and procedures of the participatory teaching, and the task and role of students and teachers in teaching process. The students' autonomous learning ability and innovative ability have been improved greatly through the development of the participatory teaching.
