Abstract This paper discussed the main problems in teaching of hybrid orbital, and put forward the idea of using information technology to implement classroom teaching and activities. According to the key and difficult points of hybrid orbital teaching, a set of classroom teaching tools (software) was developed, and the main functions of the tool were summarized. The classroom teaching practice based on this teaching tools showed that, in one lesson period, students could understand the basic concepts of hybrid orbital and the process of orbital hybridization, especially establish clear understanding of the orbital energy, orbital configuration and electronic configuration, etc, and solve the general problems involved in hybrid orbital.
