Abstract This paper discussed HPS mode in the teaching of primary battery, pointed out that teaching design should be based on teachers' correct understanding of the knowledge generation process; representative history of chemistry should be selected as teaching materials; teaching contents should fully reflect the connection of chemistry and the actual social production.
