Improved Experiment of Reaction Between Phenol and Sodium

Abstract This paper introduced an experimental scheme on phenol reacting with sodium and proved that phenolic hydroxy group was more active than alcoholic hydroxyl group. This experiment was simple to handle and its phenomena lasted obvious, which was suitable for class demonstration and beneficial to teaching.
