Abstract This paper used half-amalgamation zinc plates to do the experiment of copper-zinc primary battery, immersed the amalgamating end and non-amalgamating end of zinc plates into dilute sulphuric acid successively and measured the current and voltage. Then this article calculated the percentage loss of current and voltage by comparing the amalgamating side and non-amalgamating side so that H2 produced on zinc plate could be represented quantitatively. This experiment was improved from three aspects:zinc electrode, copper electrode and the concentration of dilute sulphuric acid, in order to reduce bubbles from zinc plate.
