Abstract The Next Generation Science Standards(NGSS) in United States stressed the importance of scientific practice and put forward key elements of science and engineering practice, not only provided the direction for the concrete implementation of scientific practice, but also made the evaluation criterion of scientific practice more explicit. This paper introduced the framework of NGSS science and engineering practice. Taking the influential factor on chemical reaction rate as an example, this paper analyzed the reflection and implementation characteristics of key elements of science and engineering practice in teaching, put forward the reference and enlightenment for the design of chemistry teaching process in high schools in China.
