Abstract  Based on the characteristics of chemistry examination questions in college entrance examination, this paper clarified the main factors influencing item difficulty, whereby items of alternate forms were written for a sample test. Statistics showed that factors of different forms had a significant impact on item difficulty. Take “form of information presentation” for example, this paper studied how item difficulty change according to the same factor of different forms, which laid the foundation for the ensuing studies of item difficulty modeling.
