Abstract Taking the chemistry experiment examination of academic proficiency test of senior high school in Jiangsu province as an example, this paper reflects on the current situation of the examination, analyzes the problems existing in the organization, design, implementation and validity of the examination, and puts forward some suggestions on the design of the experiment examination to promote the development of students’ innovative spirit and practical ability.
