Abstract The basic theory of organic chemistry is the cornerstone of cutting-edge progress, whereas the frontier advances are the extension and enrichment of the basic theories, and they complement each other. Therefore, selective incorporation of frontier advances of scientific research into organic chemistry classroom teachingis an effective way to consolidate students’ basic knowledge and enhance their interests in scientific research, and it is also of great significance to further cultivate research-oriented talents with original ideas. This paper aims to explore how to integratethe frontier advances in organic chemistry into classroom teaching, and how to designpre-class, in-class and post-class teaching, and eventually promote the learning effect of basic knowledge for the students and stimulate their enthusiasm toward scientific research.
