Abstract The aim of this study is to examine the understanding of discipline moral education among chemistry normal students. In order to explore the new era to enhance the ability of normal students in the discipline of moral education effective strategies.Analysis of concept maps generated by 29 provincial senior normal students through both qualitative and quantitative methods revealed that while these students generally acknowledge the importance of discipline moral education, their grasp of moral education objectives is predominantly confined to the fundamental characteristics of chemistry, lacking in-depth consideration for instilling ideal beliefs and values within the realm of chemistry. In terms of moral education content, there is an inclination towards various forms of situational materials;however, the selection of content often fails to align with moral education objectives. Moreover, emphasis on moral education methods tends to prioritize experiential learning and practice, neglecting the necessity for profound integration of discipline moral education with subject matter.Based on the above results, some suggestions are put forward for improving the curriculum and teaching in normal colleges.
