Abstract This study investigated the principles of water purification using alum and activated carbon through comparative experiments. Utilizing turbidity meters and color sensors, and taking into account the actual water purification processes in water treatment plants, an experimental plan was designed to explore the sequence of adding coagulants and activated carbon. Reasonable conclusions were drawn to promote students’ in-depth understanding of chemistry course content and develop their core subject literacy.
