Abstract This paper statistically analyzes the proportion of structural chemistry in the theoretical problems of past International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) competitions, summarizes the structural chemistry knowledge points covered and their frequency of occurrence, and specifically examines the question design framework and assessment perspectives of IChO problems concerning structural chemistry. Based on the above analysis, the paper further elaborates on how to study structural chemistry in a targeted manner and provides detailed preparation suggestions.
