Abstract To further enhance the educational potential and literacy development supported by handheld technology, guide teachers in systematically implementing teaching based on handheld-technology digital experiments, and deepen students’ information literacy and evidential awareness, this study constructed the “Predict curve (P)-Data collection (D)-Explain curve (E)” teaching strategy (referred to as the PDE teaching strategy). It systematically elaborates on the theoretical model, core objectives, and key implementation elements of this strategy. Furthermore, using the high school chemistry case of “acetic acid ionization equilibrium”, it illustrates in detail how the strategy guides students through a complete inquiry process—from qualitative prediction to quantitative verification, and from data acquisition to evidence-based interpretation—thereby transforming experimental teaching from experience-based judgment to evidence-guided, in-depth inquiry.
