Abstract This paper introduces the new concept of ecological cement,and gives a review on the status of urban refuse treatment such as garbage and sludge,the production process of ecological cement and the status of ecological cement at home and abroad.To produce ecological cement using urban garbage and sludge broadens the source of raw materials,reduces the consumption of natural resources,and reduces the cost of cement production,which is a promising way for the sustainable development of cement industry.
