Abstract Before 1950s, the inorganic chemistry textbooks in colleges and universities in China were mainly original or translation edition of corresponding foreign textbooks. In 1960s, the textbook construction of inorganic chemistry in China entered a brief period of prosperity. Now the inorganic chemistry textbooks widely used in colleges and universities are four representative inorganic chemistry textbooks published in 1977-1990. After 2000, although the number of varieties of inorganic chemistry textbooks increased significantly, but the quality is less. In the future, the division and connection of the basic inorganic chemistry and medium inorganic chemistry, and the integration of teaching materials and information technology should be consided.
