Abstract According to the toxicity of chlorine and the leakage in the reaction between metal and chlorine, this paper designed the completely airtight experiment including the preparation of chlorine, the reactions between metals and chlorine and the inquiry of chlorine water. In the experiment, the metal was heated via electric current in situ to react with chlorine, which could improve heating speed, resulted in the intense burning of metal wires and convenient recognition of products. Probing the composition of chlorine water could be carried out in a sealed bottle. This experiment was very suitable for classroom demonstration based on the following advantages:instruments were conventional and simple, the amount of reagents was small, easily to be operated with obvious phenomena and green.
