Abstract In view of the problems in the current assessment method of inorganic chemistry curriculum in regional colleges and universities, this work constructs the student development-oriented and stereo assessment mode, which is student-centered, emphasizes process and stresses the educational assessment theory of student development. It is a proper compliment to the final result-based assessment. Practice of the proposed assessment mode increases average scores of inorganic chemistry I and Ⅱ by 12.17% and 13.92%, respectively, highly motivates students' learning interests, and promotes changes of teachers' teaching method and student's study motivation. It closely integrates reform of examination assessment and reform of classroom teaching and raises quality of talent cultivation.
