Abstract Taking classic esterification experiment as the carrier, the concept of lean safety management was introduced andthe teachers started with “being a sensible leader”, and thenthe students were guided consciously to pay attention to safety problems in the process of experiment by using advanced concepts such as “breaking inertia thinking”, “initiative and willingness” and “continuous improvement”. Through the design of teaching links suitable for the lean safety management concept, students’ safety awareness and conscious safety habits were cultivated. In the teaching practice, it was found that the application of lean safety management concept could significantly improve the students’ safety awareness, eliminate the potential safety risks in the experimental process, and better achieve the purpose of experimental teaching.
