Abstract As an important concept of surface phenomenon, surface tension of liquid should be explained in a more detail and comprehensive way than in current physical chemical textbooks. Therefore, by means of many three-dimensional graphs, the questions about the nature, direction, and phase interface exerting force of surface tension of liquid were expounded for the addition of an appropriate supplement to content uncovered in textbooks so as to reduce beginners' difficulty in the understanding of concepts in this paper.
