Abstract It has been a century since polymer science was established by H. Staudinger in 1920. Based on the previous Nobel prizes in polymer science and related fields, this paper reviews the establishment of the concept of polymer, polymer synthetic chemistry, polymer theory, functional polymer and other development milestones in polymer science, and analyzes the future development trends of polymer discipline.
