Abstract  Ionic liquids are highly promising novel electrolytes with unique physicochemical properties. How to improve the efficiency and interests of students in learning ionic liquid electrolytes, especially abstract concepts and knowledge, is a topic of current chemical education. In this paper, a teaching scheme based on multi-angle analysis of problems and guiding students’ associative learning is proposed, using the analysis of the guanidinium cation in guanidinium-based ionic liquids as well as its precursor-guanidine as an example, aiming to diversify teaching methods for ionic liquids and simultaneously simplify the teaching content so as to stimulate students’ interests in learning.
