Abstract  “Content Representation”(CoRe)is one of the most influential research tools in PCK research field in the last two decades, which is widely used in the representation and development of PCK. Through systematic literature review, this study presents the development background of CoRe, analyzes the connotation of CoRe, and combs the application and improvement of CoRe on this basis. The results show that: Based on Shulman’s original definition of PCK, CoRe makes the amalgam of content and pedagogy concrete and explicit, and essentially constructs the representation framework of PCK; CoRe can not only help to form PCK resource database, clarify the attributes of PCK, characterize the changes of PCK, but also promote the professional development of teachers; The original CoRe has some limitations, but it can be improved based on PCK model and research purpose. A comprehensive understanding of CoRe has significant implications for PCK research and teacher education in China.
