Abstract Marine wooden shipwrecks are known as“time capsules”,which contain unique information of that era,and are an important component of the underwater cultural heritage of the world.This paper analyzes the wooden structure,corrosion mechanism and protection methods of marine wooden shipwrecks from the perspective of chemistry,which reflects the discipline value of chemistry in the protection of underwater cultural heritage,making people deeply feel the preciousness of cultural relics is not only the demonstration and continuation of civilization,but also the confirmation of scientific and technological development and progress.
