Abstract Continuous flow chemistry has developed into a disruptive technology in synthetic chemistry due to its advantages of being green, safe, and low cost and energy consumption. In this paper,an experiment was designed to synthesize 2-pyrrole carboxaldehyde from pyrrole by continuous flow Vilsmeier-Haack reaction, which not only enables students to learn the principles of continuous flow chemistry and practice the use of flow chemistry teaching platform, but also learn the principles and methods of preparing aromatic aldehydes using Vilsmeier-Haack reaction. The experiments designed in this paper can cultivate students to establish the concept of green development, which is applicable to university innovation experiments and postgraduate laboratory courses.
