Abstract Scientists' innovative spirit is a valuable spiritual asset accumulated by scientific researchers through long-term research practices. Based on an interpretation of the connotation of scientists' innovative spirit, a research framework was established to examine the presentation of this spirit in high school chemistry textbooks. Relevant sections from various editions of high school chemistry textbooks were analyzed. The study elucidates the presentation characteristics of scientists' innovative spirit in these textbooks and offers insights for the development of high school chemistry textbooks and chemistry teaching.
