Abstract Chemistry spatial ability plays an important role in the development of “spatial concept”, and the chemistry spatial construction ability is an important part of chemistry spatial ability. On the basis of the existing chemistry spatial ability composition, this article described the development and validation of an instrument for measuring the spatial construction ability of chemistry teachers. The study found that the test tool had good validity and reliability. Based on the results from this instrument, the differences between pre-service and in-service chemistry teachers’ chemistry spatial construction ability were analyzed. And this paper analyzed the problems and put forward the suggestions on teacher training.
