Abstract Taking the “abnormal phenomenon” caused by students adding potassium thiocyanate to a test solution containing divalent iron and then dripping hydrogen peroxide as a scenario, this study explores the reasons for the fading of blood red color, the products of the conversion of thiocyanate, and the composition and causes of bubbles after standing, forming a general idea of scientific inquiry and implementing the chemical core literacy of evidence reasoning.
