Abstract To improve the teaching effectiveness of chemical engineering experiments, this paper innovatively proposes a “trinity” teaching mode integrating virtual simulation with Aspen simulation, using VOC catalytic oxidation experiments as a detailed case study.Through deep integration of virtual simulation and Aspen simulation,a closed-loop teaching mode of “theoretical prediction-operational training-experimental verification” has been constructed, overcoming the “virtual-physical disconnection” limitation in traditional chemical engineering experimental instruction.Through pre-class virtual simulation, students can familiarize themselves with the experimental process in advance and reduce operational risks.Aspen simulation,on the other hand, expands the experimental dimensions, overcoming practical device limitations in terms of temperature, pressure, etc.,enabling students to gain a deep understanding of LHHW-type reaction mechanisms. The synergistic effect of these two approaches not only enhances experimental safety and efficiency, but also strengthens students’ engineering thinking and comprehensive analysis capabilities through data cross-validation.During in-class experiments, students further verify simulation results through practical operations, comprehensively mastering the influencing patterns of VOC catalytic oxidation removal.Post-class comprehensive analysis of experimental data and simulation results reinforces students’ scientific research thinking and writing skills.Teaching practice demonstrates that this mode significantly improves students’ learning interest and comprehensive abilities, while enhancing the efficiency and safety of experimental teaching, providing new ideas for the reform of chemical engineering experimental education.
