Abstract This study presents an OBE-driven reform of the coatings technology course developed through the Guangdong Provincial First-Class Course, which is specifically designed to meet the talent demands of the coating industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The reform establishes an integrated“objectives-content-methods-assessment”teaching system through industry demand-oriented backward design, featuring a reconstructed three-level modular curriculum and innovative blended online-offline teaching approaches.By creating collaborative industry-academia platforms with regional leading enterprises, the program achieves deep integration of theoretical knowledge and engineering practice. The curriculum organically integrates ideological elements including engineering ethics and innovation spirit throughout all teaching processes.Supported by multi-dimensional evaluation and continuous quality improvement mechanisms, the reform has yielded significant improvements in students’ engineering practice capabilities, establishing an effective paradigm for applied engineering curriculum reform.
