Abstract Tomas Lindahl, Paul Modrich and Aziz Sancar are awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2015 for having mapped and explained how the cell repairs its DNA and safeguards the genetic information. Their work helps people understand the molecular mechanisms of DNA repair pathways in detail, and provides the basis for understanding the causes of genetic diseases and the mechanisms of cancer and aging process.
