Abstract This article explained the basic definition of teachers' practical knowledge and discussed the practical knowledge of chemistry teachers. The value of chemistry teachers' practical knowledge and the necessity of the cultivation of pre-service chemistry teachers' practical knowledge were explored in the aspects of teaching practice, professional development and pre-service teacher education. Aiming at the present situation of the acquisition of practical knowledge of pre-service chemistry teachers, this article suggested the effective ways to construct per-service chemistry teachers' practical knowledge by creating practical community, practicing practical subjectivity and implementing self-reflection.
