Abstract Amount is the basis of stoichiometry and almost related to every chemical experiment. However, most students have a vague impression of it,which often leads to their experiments failure or erroneous results in the final data. Therefore, this paper proposed to design defective experiments to solve these problems, where a certain defect was introduced in an experiment to make students realize the importance of amount in chemistry. Moreover, put forward the advantages and attentions to design defective experiments, and expected that this method could cultivate students' ability to discover and solve problems, and lay the foundation for knowledge into productive forces in future.
