Abstract Using content analysis method, this paper analyzed the inquiry levels and skills of the chemistry textbook, the chemistry experiment report in senior high school and college entrance examination of chemistry of Shandong province. Experiments in senior high school chemistry textbook were mainly based on the confirmatory and structural level, experiments in the chemistry experiment report book were based on structural level, and the experimental items in the college entrance examination of chemistry were based on guiding inquiry level. There was no balance in the skill of the experimental design plan, and asking questions, experimental purposes, experimental assumptions and other skills were rarely presented. However, they all put emphasis on the inquiring skills of drawing conclusions and scientific explanations by analyzing evidence.
