Abstract Subject knowledge is the key component of normal students' professional quality. This study was based on the independent study of subject knowledge in normal students' chemistry lecture preparation groups, discussed new approaches of intensifying subject knowledge from topic-selection, study-process and problem-criticism, and analyzed the value of normal students' chemistry lecture preparation groups.
