Determination of Hygroscopicity of Huperzine A

Abstract  The hygroscopicity of huperzine A was characterized and compared by using dynamic vapor sorption (DVS),and the determination of moisture of huperzine A was measured by Karl Fischer's method.Huperzine A has the hygroscopicity before and after the drying,which would cause the lower result in assay.The DVS shows that it will reach the balance when hygroscopic moisture comes to 7%.While the sample is in the constant temperature and humidity chamber for 15 days,humidity 75% and temperature 15℃,it has no hygroscopicity based on DVS,and the content of huperzine A can be accurately determined.The content uniformity of huperzine A was determined by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
