Abstract As a practical course in the specialty of marine chemistry, chemical oceanography experiment has been launched in many colleges and universities, but the course is not yet unified in teaching content, teaching syllabus and teaching methods. Based on analysis of the problems existing in the course, some measures were introduced on improving the course, such as how to revise the conception of the course, how to adjust and enrich the experimental contents. The textbook about this course was also introduced. These measures can help students apply the knowledge into practice and help to understand the study purpose for the sea. The construction experience and teaching practice for this course play an important role in the promotion and application of courses and benefit on training potential marine research professionals with reasonable knowledge structure and practical ability.
