Abstract Based on the principles of authoritativeness, pertinence and readability, the paper took the “isolation and testing of iodine elements in laminaria japonica” as an example, relevant and qualified literature were selected to create contexts for further teaching. During reading and analyzing literature, students realized the value of them. Literature guided students in various aspects such as laminaria japonica pretreatment, selection of oxidants, purification and identification of iodine. It has been proved that literature contribute to broaden the horizons of students and inspire their interest a lot.
