Abstract  As the important content of physical chemistry, catalysis is of great practical significance. The life of catalyst is one of the main indicators of catalysts, which relates to the economy of an industrial process. Supported metal catalysts are often deactivated due to the aggregation of active metals in high reaction temperatures. Although the methods, e.g. use larger support surface area, increase metal loading and strengthening the bonding of metal with the support, can be used to prolong the catalysts life. Basically, these methods could not prevent the thermodynamics trend of catalysts metal growth and deactivation. Recently, we dispersed the active copper component uniformly into the alumina bulk phase to form spinel structure as sustained release catalyst, thereby effectively improved the stability of the catalyst. This may enrich the catalysis content of physical chemistry.
