Abstract In the teaching method of problem-based learning mode assisted with micro-course, problem acts as driving force for self-directed learning while micro-course as tool. This article, taking inorganic chemistry with less class hours for non-chemical major for example, discusses the disadvantages, practicability, implementation strategy and attention points in inorganic chemistry teaching of this teaching method. Results indicated that students' enthusiasm in learning was aroused with the help of this teaching method, and most students made the most of their spare time due to the flexibility of micro-course. Besides, the abilities of analyzing and solving problem of students, and the flexibility and creativity of students' thinking were developed and cultivated.
