Abstract Esterification reaction is the most important type of experiment in organic chemistry teaching experiment. Different methods of ester synthesis are quite different, which can cultivate students' practical ability. Based on the teaching experiment, this paper investigates the esterification of salicylic acid and isoamyl alcohol. Isoamyl salicylate is a product with broad prospects and great development value. Studying its synthesis method has great potential economic benefits and social benefits. Isoamyl salicylate was synthesized by water fractionation with cyclohexene as water carrying agent. The yield was 85.9%. By studying the synthetic method of isoamyl salicylate, the students' innovative ability of independent thinking and the scientific spirit of exploration were cultivated, and good teaching effect was achieved.
