Abstract In order to meet the requirement of cultivating innovative talents, comprehensive chemical experiment course should be set up for senior undergraduates, aiming at cultivating students' ability of comprehensive knowledge application and accomplishment of scientific research. Taking the experiment “preparation of carbon quantum dots and their application in quantitative analysis of tetracycline” as example, through literature review, method study, performance testing, and results analysis, students can master the preparation technology of nanomaterials, instrumental characterization and general steps of quantitative analysis of complex samples, etc. The course content joints scientific frontier spots and curriculum design takes the students as main body. The teaching mode oriented by “need” and “problem” is helpful to stimulate students' interests and cultivate their innovative practical ability.
