Abstract The progress of the fundamental theories in chemistry is reconstructing the whole chemical science. Theories under old-day pedagogic system fall behind the proceedings of modern chemical theories. Here in College of Chemistry, Jilin University, China, we start the course statistical mechanics and molecular simulation for the undergraduate students. Considering the features of the students, we rearrange the course contents carefully. We also optimize the pedagogy with the systematical development of students and the science development of the country. Especially, we concentrate the ideological and political educational elements, to help the students improve their core competence in thoughts, mental, and knowledge. We also give an outlook of the future of the course.
