Abstract Based on the Boltzmann statistics, this paper briefly summarizes the statistical thermodynamics under the independent particle approximation of the non-localized system, and analyzes some differences and connections between statistical thermodynamic methods and conventional thermodynamic methods by using some examples. It helps students to deepen their understanding of some important thermodynamic concepts (such as heat capacity, Gibbs free energy, enthalpy and chemical potential) from the perspective of statistical thermodynamics, and establish microscopic physical images, which is beneficial for students to better learn the two parts of thermodynamic knowledge and flexibly apply them to the solution of chemical problems.
