Abstract  Ibuprofen is a best-selling over-the-counter drug worldwide. It is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, it has excellent anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic effect with less adverse reactions. By retrieving the literature, the paper reviews the development history of Ibuprofen from research and screening to clinical trials, the marketing experience from prescription drugs to over-the-counter drugs, and introduces its classic synthetic routes, and purifies the pedagogical values of its history and development.
