Abstract To calculate the solubility of barium sulfate in sulfuric acid solution, the second ionization of sulfuric acid should be considered; The hydrolysis of sodium carbonate should be considered when calculating the solubility of barium carbonate in sodium carbonate solution. The solubility of insoluble electrolytes in strong electrolyte solutions containing the same ions is calculated by using ion activity, both the same ion effect and the influence of salt effect on the solubility are considered, which makes the calculation results more accurate and reliable and can avoid some misconceptions.
