Abstract Engineering education needs to adapt to the development demands of the intelligent era and accelerate its transformation from knowledge-oriented to problem-oriented.AI-enabled project-based teaching is a new teaching mode aimed at cultivating engineering capabilities. This mode empowers project practices through artificial intelligence technology, significantly enhancing students’ engineering practical abilities, innovative thinking, academic vision, learning efficiency, and personalized growth.Taking the course “Inorganic Chemistry and Engineering” as an example, this paper elaborately introduces the four stages of topic selection,mid-term,conclusion,and evaluation in the teaching design and implementation of the AI-enabled project-based teaching mode.It systematically explores how to utilize AI to empower project-based teaching and analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of this teaching mode empowered by AI.This has reference significance for enhancing students’ engineering capabilities and comprehensive qualities, cultivating outstanding engineering talents, and promoting the innovation of engineering education mode.
