Abstract Taking the experiment of phosphating treatment on iron and steel surface as an example, this paper discussed the necessity and feasibility of chemical experiment teaching reform on the exploration of applied talents training in local universities. During the course of teaching reform, consideration should be given to both educational regularity and social demand. In addition, the practical ability and inquiry ability of students should be developed on the basis of stimulating students' learning interest, teaching basic theory and operating skills.
